Customer Rating: Summary: A SUPERB drama that is TIMELY and Beautifully Done Comment: Peter Strauss, an underated actor, who has given numerous outstanding performances, is paired with the legendary Charlton Heston in a superb drama of a the younger Strauss returning home with wife and son in tow to be with his father, played by Heston, who is dying. The conflict between the two men arises because of Strauss's character's disavowal of the Vietnam war, in which he served. Heston sees this as cowardice and his view is shared by many in the conservative town, who view Strauss with open contempt. The father/son dynamic gradually builds to a shattering climax that is both beautifully written and magnificently portrayed. This is a small gem, a minor masterpiece, that has been sadly overlooked - because its relevance to our world today, to its view of war, of what makes a man, a community, could not be more timely. This is Heston and Strauss at their absolute best - a real triumph for a made for television film - and one of the best TV dramas you will ever see it. GET IT!
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful Film! Comment: Proud Men is a wonderful film. Charlton Heston and Peter Strauss did an outstanding job in this heart-touching film about a man and his son coming to terms with each other. They finally realize that being proud does not mean you can't express love for each other. It is always nice to see a film with a good story that doesn't have to rely on special effects or sex. This film stands out by having a great story. Proud Men is one of Mr. Heston's best. MonaK
