Customer Rating: Summary: The Return of the Sea Monster Comment: Two scuba divers come across a sunken boat and explore it. It is the `Orca'. Then an unseen thing attacks them. Amity has a new hotel for tourists. How could anything go wrong? [But we know what to expect.] Some teenagers discuss their prospects in life, given their class status. Then an expensive camera is found on the beach. Teenagers are playing by the shore. A water-skier attracts unwanted attention. Then there is an explosion on the boat. Chief Brody searches for the missing people. A dead orca washes up on the beach. What killed it? Could a shark be in the waters off Amity? What about the tourists?
Chief Brody discovers a missing tourist. The rich investor shows off the sunny beach. Will a false alarm scare prospective customers? Will the town officials lose confidence in Chief Brody? Will the movie play restful music to lull the viewers until there is a shocking surprise? Will another attack scare the viewers? Will a teenager become paralyzed with fear? Will a shark sighting create unbelievable confusion among the teenage sailors? Will the helicopter bring help? Will there be another lull in the story before another shark attack? Can you believe the trick used to end the shark attack? Was this supposed to be a film for teenagers? Will this review ask too many questions?
One problem with a sequel is the suspense is lessened. The boy's hair styles date the film. Will we ever see such films in the 21st century? The more limited cast tells of lower production costs.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Other White Meat Comment: Not as good as the first one, but worth watching. I am starting to root for the shark.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not as good as the original. Comment: Jaws two is ok, just not great.
The shark is still cool, but it's basically the first movie remade poorly.
The script is ok, the acting is ok.
All in all it's not a must see.
If you liked one, you may want to rent this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST, BUT CLOSE . Comment: Roy Scheider is back as police Chief Martin Brody of the small town of Amity to hunt down another killer great white shark minus his sidekicks Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw. It appears another great white has made it's way into Amity to wreck havoc on the small town and scare away the summer tourists that the town relies on for it's summer dollars. As usual , once it's become quite clear to Chief Brody that there's another great white to deal with he confronts the mayor Larry Vaugnn( Murrey Hamilton) and the town officials that there's another shark to deal with they deny that it's any such thing because of the fact it will scare away tourists . While the first Jaws was a box office hit directed by Steven Spielberg and the sequel considered somewhat inferior by critics , I have to say it was very close to entertaining as the first and an excellent sequel .
Customer Rating: Summary: Scarier than the first Comment: Nearly 10 years before I was born, there was a shark terrorising the cinema audience. Three years later (and still I wasn't around) a second shark came back to make sure we didn't dip a toe in the ocean.
Thirty plus years on from the first movie, it makes me terrified to even think about going near the ocean. (And I like beach holidays.) Jaws 2, not the best movie to watch on a bright sunny day, but it certainly passed the time. I did feel that it could have been edited slightly better, even by 10 minutes, cos it did seem to drag between killings, and shark sightings.
The great thing about Jaws 2 is that some of the original cast come back. I don't think it would have worked without Roy Schneider personally. He made the first movie for me, and he was even better in the second movie.
You know the storyline. A shark is back in the waters surrounding Amity Island, looking for meat, human meat is its favourite. The deaths start happening, people start mysteriously disappearing, a killer whale is washed up on the beach with huge bites taken out of it, and it's up to Brody to convince everyone that the shark is back. Bigger and better than ever.
Despite its length, and the fact you saw more of the shark this time, for me it was definitely scarier. The shark gets burnt early on in the movie, and it gives it a whole new look. Definitely scared the bejeezus out of me. The film doesn't really hit its peak until the last 35 minutes, when I was holding my breath, and trying not to look away from the screen.
I won't reveal too much more about the movie, you have to see it. After this, I hear the sequels got downright awful, so I think this will be the last of my Jaws reviews! They sound awful. But I do think my mum has all of them. Shocking. But the Jaws films still have the same effect on me and probably a lot of other viewers, as they did in the seventies. It still scares me.
