Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Lame, Horrible Service Comment: When I bought my Xbox 360, there was a 'One free issue' thing for OXM, which I sent in to see how it was. The magazine's content itself is relatively horrible. The writer's lack creativity and humor. The reviews are useless. I couldn't stand to read much of the content. The discs the game comes with are pretty pointless as well. To top that off, their claim that the free issue had 'no obligations' was BS, as they keep sending me notices to pay for a year's subscription. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk. I myself read Electronic Gaming Monthly. It's about a billion times better. Customer Rating: Summary: Mag + DVD, just as promised Comment: It takes several weeks for order to go though(6-ish weeks), but from there on it's all peachy. Just for clarification - magazine DOES include the disc. All in all, everything is exactly as advertised. Customer Rating: Summary: Great reading for an amazing console! Comment: Well, ordered this a few weeks back and was expecting it to arrive in March. To my surprise, it arrived almost a whole month earlier! Talk about great service. The magazine is awesomely written and even includes a demo disc with each issue! Instead of paying over $10.00 per magazine at a news stand, this costs only $25.00 for an entire year! Editorial Reviews: "Like Maxim, but about Xbox!" was clearly the mandate given to Mike Salmon, former editor-in-chief of PC Accelerator and current editor-in-chief of The Official Xbox Magazine. He got it half right: this gamer lifestyle magazine has the locker-room feel of Maxim but lacks Maxim's intelligent, tongue-in-cheek style. The result is something that looks like it was written by high-school sophomores. For example, a bio of Kasumi, a character in the game Dead or Alive 3, reads "A redhead with a difference--she can take on all comers. And if DoA 3 has the "[breast] bounce on/off" option, she'll definitely have a lot of comers." On the plus side, the game reviews and previews are informative and mostly free of bull. --Mike Fehlauer
