Customer Rating: Summary: Best Urban/Electronic music magazine out right now! Comment: This is by far the best magazine I subscribe to. It is the one magazine I look forward to receiving every month. REMIX provides producers and DJ's an inside look into the recording studios of the most successful producers/musicians in the industry. They list the EXACT hardware and software each featured producer/musician is using to make mutiplatinum selling music. To me, this information is priceless. I would recommend this magazine to anybody that makes and/or wants to make music at a professional level!
Customer Rating: Summary: Sign up to get a flood of junk mail Comment: I made the unfortunate choice to subscribe to Remix magazine a handful of months back. Unfortunate, because what once was a mostly junk mail free existance has turned into an existance flooded with junk mail. Some mailers even provide no way of removing myself from their lists.
Do yourself a favor and avoid remix magazine, unless of course you need some kindling for the fire.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best we have in the States Comment: This is from the perspective of a former subscriber from 2 years ago.
That title is a little misleading... It is the 'best' we have as far as domestic print magazines concerning electronic music production goes. You'll find more interesting content here than in EM or some other recording magazine full of glossy ads of 64 track desks and $10,000 microphones. However, compared to say... Computer Music from the UK, the content is rather paltry. Remix typically has a strong DJ perspective and the technical articles are rather basic. You don't get any indpeth coverage that you might in Computer Music or Music Tech in regards to techniques(only time they got indepth that I can recall, was the monthly turntable scratching tutorial). There tends to be an interview or two in every issue with little information in regards to production. It's a production magazine, please ask production questions Remix editors! Product reviews are typically non indepth compared to what you can find online and in some cases are comparable to reading the back of the product's box!
All that said... it's about $10 a year for a subscription. Cheap! That makes it worth it. Enough for me to resubscribe again. Check our their webpage for archives of past and current articles. The magazine appears to be getting quite a bit better since I was a subscriber.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great mag Comment: This is an great magazine - slick look, lots of great alternative artist interviews - a must read for the aspiring hip hop producer who needs production and performance tips and techniques.
Customer Rating: Summary: good mag for dj's and producers Comment: Remix features good interviews and features on the top producers and dj's in the world. They also provide contact information on record labels looking to expand their artist roster, and provide tips and tricks for producers and dj's to hone their craft.
