Customer Rating: Summary: Not too Awful Comment: Now, I'm just as upset as anyone that Pioneer is going really cheap, but I think it's so that they can continue releasing Pokemon videos. You got to face facts- Pokemon isn't too hot anymore(although it is regaining popularity). Pioneer must not be making too much profit on these Pokemon videos, so that's why they're doing the High Voltage Collection. Aucutally, by the time of this review, the movie was really high on the Amazon.com Sales Rank. And the episodes on this tape aren't bad episodes, I like them. But there are only 2, so that's why this doesn't get 5 stars. So just enjoy what you got.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not for the episodes, but for the video itself! Comment: This is a video from Pioneer's upcoming "High Voltage Collection" which only highlights certain episodes from the series, instead of following the storyline of the show. The three episodes are Episode 409 - Two Hits and A Miss, where Ash and company come upon a young girl and her Hitmontop, training under her grandfather, Episode 410 - Hassle in the Castle, with Brock becoming lost in a castle dungeon and has to rely on Zubat and Episode 414 - Power Play, in which Team Rocket wreaks havoc on a small town and it's up to Ash to team up with Gary and is Umbreon to set things right. These episodes are excellent and action packed, but as many would be quick to point out, are 'filler episodes' and have virtually no impact on the main storyline. ...The episodes, along with being presented out of order, are virtually the same as they were when shown on Kids WB, including the awkward third commercial break inserted into the show towards the ending. The original Japanese versions didn't have this break, and would it have been that hard to spend five minutes restoring the transition scenes? Also, the intro and end credits play at the beginning and end of each episode. Get that fast foward button ready... Overall, the episodes presented are very good, but Pioneer is doing a major dis-service to Pokemon fans by releasing these so called "Best Of" series. One can only hope that Pioneer is secretly planning something much bigger, perhaps season box sets similar to The Simpsons. Pros: No intrusive Kids WB! logo... Great episodes. Cons: Third commercial break still included, intro and credits tacked onto every episode, VHS quality seems a bit dimmer compared to previous volumes, focused solely on filler episodes and not on the storyline.
Customer Rating: Summary: The first 2 episodes were good, but Air Time [isn't!] Comment: Welcome Pokemon fans! I noticed that the Johto Journeys was totally over, but I have to admit about the Johto League Champions. This is a Pokemon TV series that is OK, but not very good to waste your money on, even though it first started way back in August 2001. Oh well! The first chapter of the Johto League Champions contains 3 of the following episodes. Here they are:"A Goldenrod Opportunity" In this episode, Ash Ketchum battles Whitney, the Goldenrod City gym leader for the Plain Badge. But when 2 of Whitney's Pokemon known as Nidorina and Clefairy were out of the game, Miltank was the last Pokemon in line. Miltank won the battle. What a shame! Wahhh! This episode is well done. "A Dairy Tale Ending" In this episode, Team Rocket's gigantic barrel enters Uncle Milton's farm to snag all the Miltank that they can get their hands on. Not only that, they snag Pikachu as well. Suddenly, Totodile digs up the ditches to knock Team Rocket's big barrel off course. It also did the same thing to Miltank (Dig up those ditches to slow Miltank down). This was how Ash Ketchum won the Plain Badge. Now he's on his way to Ecruteak City, and his next adventure. However, winning at the gym is not important. What's most important is if you defeat a gym leader's tough Pokemon fair and square. This episode is well done. And finally, "Air Time" In this episode, Ash Ketchum enters a bizarre landscape, where the big Meowth robot is ready to fight, just like "Good 'Quil Hunting". This episode is not well done! Remember that buying more Pokemon episodes on VHS and DVD are not worth your money. If you want these episodes without wasting your money, you're better off recording the episodes from Kids' WB and Cartoon Network. That way, you'll have these episodes available to you. Good luck!
