Summary: MasterCook delux
Comment: This is the first software cookbook I have purchased since the Micro cookbooks of the '90's. Not dissapointed but also not overly impressed. Much easier to use with lots of short cuts. Not impressed with the imbedded cookbook and their recipes but I did not buy it for that. I bought it to record and store my collected recipes and it seems fine for doing that.

Comment: Aside from the vast library of recipes, shopping and nutrition tools that this product offers, this software is great for people who have family recipes, who like to invent their own dishes or re-invent them. You can produce a cookbook with all of those beloved recipes and it can include the nutritional value as well (Watch out, you will find out just how loaded with fat and calories mom's home cooking really was). I also like that you can recalculate the portion size of the recipes and it will recalculate your shopping list.
The only reason that I give it a 4 and not a 5 is because it's not a beautifully designed interface. You are getting a lot of utility and flexibility here in exchange though.
If you are kind of a techie, you should consider this software a 5. It's very flexible in terms of it's architecture and database set up.

Comment: MasterCook 9 was purchased to replace Mastercook 6 (Betty Crocker Edition) which refused to install using Windows Vista. I found that the newer version works great with Vista and I was able to import all of my personal recipes, as well as the Betty Crocker ones. This has always been wonderful software, in my opinion, and I look forward to adding even more of my personal recipes to it. It is has a small learning curve and once you have mastered that (about three recipes worth of entries will do it) you have something that will greatly aid you in keeping your paper recipes to a minimum.

Comment: I have version 9.0.00.20. It is basicaly unusable. Customer service by Valusoft is about the worst I have run into. Recommend avoiding the program until they get it fixed.

I have more luck just browsing the internet. I would say I was disappointed.

MasterCook Deluxe 9.0 is the easy way to expand your meal time experience. It's tough to come up with new ideas for dinner, but with this list of recipes you're never short on ideas.
