Customer Rating: Summary: Great beginner keyboard Comment: I love this thing. I tried to learn piano when I was a kid and failed miserably. I didn't like my teacher, I was mystified by reading music and I was very aware of the expense of the piano we were renting to own. After six months, I couldn't bring myself to ask my mother to pay for any more of it.
I bought this keyboard to encourage my music-loving daughter to reach and stretch her weak hand. I figured it would eoncourage her to do the kind of movements her occupational therapist wants her to do. It has done that. But it has also encouraged me to try the piano again. It is cheap enough that I can write on it without feeling guilty. I have written the letters on the keys, color coded, so that I can figure out music quickly. I'm never going to be a virtuoso, but I have learned to play one Christmas Carol this year, in a fairly complex arrangement. And I've learned most of Fur Elise. One of the things that really encouraged me to keep trying was the many voices available. When I got bored playing, I would switch to playing it in horns, or bells, or cathedral organ. It kept it interesting and I kept playing. Because its electronic, I can turn it down and practice when others are asleep.
There are many more features available on it, and I haven't figured them all out yet. It is a bit complicated in places, but I find I can have a lot of fun with it with the parts I have figured out. If I decided I want to know more, I'll sit down with the manual and figure it out. Meantime, I'm having a great time with it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great keyboard at a great price. Comment: For the price of this keyboard, you'd expect something of far lower quality. I was pleased from day one and will likely continue to hold onto this, even after I purchase something more substantial. Yamaha has mastered the grand piano sound digitally.
Make sure you get a sustain pedal when you place your order - it doesn't come with one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good enough Comment: The keyboard has a small display which shows the keys which are being played which is helpful to learn the songs preloaded in the keyboard. The DVD instruction is not that helpful as its not the full version.
The grand piano option is pretty good.
Customer Rating: Summary: None any better Comment: I'm so glad I choose this over casio. There's none any better ! If anyone wanted an excellent keyboard, this is the one to get.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Comment: easy to use and my son loves it. You should go to a local music store and purchase a beginner's guide to playing though
