Customer Rating: Summary: blows away synthware, holds it's own versus analog Comment: I have owned the 61-key TI for about 3 months. It is hands-down a top synth for electronic music. Easy to program and many features. It does not sound analog, it sounds lush and fat but not analog. I use it to make hard trance and pumping dance tracks. Great pads and great acid sounds too. Better than the best soft-synth on it's worst day. It would take 5 or 6 high powered computers to run the sounds this synth will produce. Matter of fact, you can't even compare it to software synth. You can't lose buying this synth. It's simply one of the best sounding and most versatile synths produced. I'm a big analog fan too, but it's nice to have both. I like to produce music, not just make cool sounds. The Virus has a sound that fits well on tracks. Only pure enthusiasts can enjoy the sound of analog verses very good VA ( I do ). But the reality is that the average audience does not. The new Virus can produce many great sounds that people want to hear today. Though not as detailed per-voice as a analog. In analog a lot of nuances get drowned out of the mix. After the other tracks are mixed, compression, mixing down to cd quality, then to MP3 qaulity, etc, etc, you lose a lot. But the Virus, what you get what you recrod. So you have a better idea of the final product as you're producing.
I love analog sound but 99% of most audiences don't understand it. I.e. $3000 for an one voice Mini Moog is a bit much. I love the sound, but I have limited money I need to maximize my purchases.
Softsynth just sound too phoney. The average listener knows crap when the they hear it. I'm pretty sure the hottest tracks are not made with Native Instruments synthware.
My Dream setup
Virus TI - I have
Poly Evolver - I have
Andromeda A6 - I want and am saving up for it.
Jom xBase 09 SE - I want and will have soon.
MiniMoog - Down the road.
You can't lose with this setup.
