Summary: Great Placebo
Comment: Worthless pretty much sums it up. Without worth. Except that it costs about 15 bucks for a bottle. Even the generic version is equal to Advil, which is exponentially better. Tylenol does nothing for real pain. It makes little aches go away, but if you play football, this isn't gonna do anything for you. If you have any MAN pain at all, than a placebo is just as good, if not better because it's not a ripoff. Fever reduction is good in this product, but Advil works equally well and relieves pain, and reduces inflammation.

Summary: The alternative to aspirin and related analgesics
Comment: When I was four years old, I began having coughing spells at night, making me lose sleep and lose weight. My tonsils were bad, so out they came. The coughing continued. Next step: an allergy test. In a scratch-test of 130 common allergens, 119 reacted. Including aspirin. The aspirin allergy was one of the more intense reactions, and I have not had aspirin in over forty years now. In stepped Tylenol, to save the day. If I have a headache, Tylenol helps. If a tooth is bothering me, Tylenol helps. Hemorrhoid pain? Tylenol! Running a fever? Knock it down with Tylenol.

A few years back, a new array of pain-killers hit the over-the-counter market, including Naprosin, Aleve, Motrin, and Ibuprofen. For those who are allergic to aspirin, these looked like new alternatives. I asked my doctor about how these new medications related to my aspirin allergy, and he quashed my fantasy of having choices. I was not dissatisfied with Tylenol, but I wanted to have a choice. It turns out that the new analgesics are so chemically close to aspirin that anyone who is allergic to aspirin, should also avoid Naprosin, Aleve, Motrin, and Ibuprofen.

For me, 500 mg. (Extra Strength) Tylenol is my only alternative, and I am grateful that it almost always suffices. One caplet will knock out a mild to moderate headache, and adult dosing allows two 500 mg. caplets every four hours for more significant pain or fever reduction. I like the caplets because the regular pills start dissolving too quickly, sometimes before I even get them down my throat, and the gelcaps are too sweet in their slippery coating.

Is Tylenol a miracle drug that thins the blood, reduces inflammation, and kills pain? No, it does not do everything that aspirin does. But, for someone who cannot take aspirin, because of allergies or some other reason, Tylenol is a fine alternative.
