Comment: This cd is nothing less than beautiful! All 17 tracks breaths new life into the meaning of country music. Songs of lovin and leavin, lying and cheatin, is what alan does best. He doesnt try to conform to what country music is becoming, but he stays true to the kind of music he has always loved. Alan Jackson never ceases to amaze me with his beautiful singing or talented writing skills. Not too many artists can say that they've written EVERY song on the entire album, then then again, alan jackson is not just any artist. He is one of the true country acts still around today. I know you will play this album again and again until you have to go out and buy another one, which in that case, its a guarantee that you will have a GOOD TIME all over again. If you are a true country music fan, this album is a must have for your collection. If you want to know just want alan jackson is all about, listen to this cd and i promise you wont be disappointed.

Summary: Best Country CD of 2008
Comment: This was by far the best country CD of 2008. Unfortunately it did NOT win Album of the Year, although it was nominated. AJ got hosed! All original material, from rocking to sad ballards to punpin' truck driving songs. I still like baloney on white bread, and I still dig Alan Jackson! If you buy one country record this year, this is IT!

Within his 2008 release, Good Time, a generous selection of 17 tracks, Alan Jackson sings of all sorts of times. Not only the "Good Time" of the title track--a dance floor, barroom anthem with a hint of Chuck Berry--but tender times ("Right Where I Want You"), mournful times ("Sissy's Son"), lovelorn times ("Listen to Your Senses"), kick-back times ("Laid Back 'n Low Key"), even times of marital monotony ("Nothing Left To Do"). With his return to more traditional country, he channels his inner George Jones on "When the Love Factor's High" and "If You Want to Make Me Happy," takes a bluegrass turn on the uptempo, downbeat "Long Long Way," teams with Martina McBride on "Never Loved Before," eulogizes his father on "Small Town Southern Man" and closes with the honky-tonk gospel of "If Jesus Walked the World Today." Since Jackson is the sole songwriter here, the listener gets a sense of every side of his multifaceted musical personality. --Don McLeese
