Its effect lasts 24 hours, often longer. Happily, it recently became available over the counter. An interesting sidelight on the effectiveness of our health system: now that my insurance company no longer covers half of the cost, I actually pay less per tablet: I no longer must see my GP to get the prescription, and the cost per tablet is less, too. The moral of the story: health insurance companies should cover catastrophic costs only. They can then get rid of the army of bean counters they need to process small claims.
